Creative portion
Here is my short story. The title is Behind the Door.
Elements of gothic – my short story!
The elements which i chose to use in my short story are:
* Setting in a castle
* An atmosphere of mystery and suspense
* Darkness
* Death
* Secrets
and those are the two websites that i used for this.
About my project
Well, I decided do my project about the author Edgar Allan Poe. He is the most famous gothic writer for all his books, short stories and poems. Poe always have some strong characteristics in his writing like darkness, crazy characters and creepy settings as haunted houses, old buildings and scary places. What I have to do is write a research paper about one specific topic in his life, my research questions is how alcohol and drugs influenced Poe in his writing and life style, and the other thing that I have to do is write a short story, poems or essay using the same gothic characteristics that Poe used on his works.
I’ve already learned many facts about Poe’s life such as all the problems that he had during his life, about his instable family, about his influence in others authors inside and outside of the
United States and his way too write. Now I know a lot more about gothic style, once I am studying and trying to know it better to write my creative portion. I didn’t really decide exactly how is going to be my creative portion, but I know that I am going to write a short story, with a lot of darkness, sadness and creepyness!
